Shelby Super Snake at RMMR 2009

The 21st Annual Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup was held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for the 13th time this past weekend (June 18th-21st, 2009).  The eye candy packed Ford Mustang gathering included events such as a blackjack run, autocross, and a show ‘n shine. StangNet.com was fortunate to attend the Show ‘n Shine this year. The temperature hovered in the 60s with the sun shining brightly for perfect viewing conditions and the people of Steamboat Springs treated us to a great time. We were able to talk to many car owners and listen to their unique stories. Seeing the cars is only half of the fun: mingling with other Mustang owners is something that we should all take time to do more often. You never know who you may meet; he or she could be one of your neighbors. For more information about the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup, please visit RMMR.org.  Enjoy the pictures we brought back for you! Read on…

2009 Ford Mustang burnout

The folks at AmericanMuscle have teamed up with a (local) Philadelphia radio station to give away a brand new 2009 Ford Mustang to a lucky winner. There’s a catch, however. The “Live in it to Win It” promotional contest will challenge selected contestants to be the “Survivor” and last longer than the competition. Sounds simple, right? Four people are going to spend every moment with three others in the Mustang until but one remains. We aren’t too sure about this one, but we know this: the love of the Ford Mustang is a powerful thing and people will go to great lengths to be the owner of one. Good luck, guys and gals–you’re going to need it! Read on…

2009 1/2 Lee Iococca 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang

For all the aftermarket flavors of the Ford Mustang, we feel this one is well-deserved. The proud papa of the Legendary pony car known as the Ford Mustang, Lee Iacocca, recently conjured up one to be his very own: the 2009 1/2 Iacocca 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang. Designed by Michael Leone and constructed by the Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, this massaged Mustang features smoothed lines on the front and sides, and features a sloped roof that stretches all the way back to the end of the car. Inside, the car is well treated to what would otherwise be considered a designer or luxury treatment. Diamond Design stitched leather seats, a branded “I” leather steering wheel, Iacocca sill plates, and much more make this Mustang a real one-off gem. Read on…

2010 Ford Mustang - glass roof

It doesn’t come as a shock to announce that the 2010 Ford Mustang comes with a glass roof, offering up sun soakers the chance to take it all in while cruising in their favorite Legendary pony car. Aside from shielding passengers and the interior from about 90% of the (harmful) ultra-violet rays inbound, the glass does much more. It also insulates the cabin while providing a great panoramic view, further reducing the amount of energy required by the air conditioning system to keep the car comfortable. Additionally, the glass roof on the Ford Mustang insulates the cabin from a substantial amount of noise pollution, vibration, and harshness. This revolutionary offering from Ford for the Mustang is available for both the V6 and GT models and holds a sticker price of $1,995. Keep reading to get the official scoop in the Press Release from Ford.

Slip of the Tongue? 400hp Ford Mustang16 Jun

A recent CNBC video of Bill Ford on the Survival of US Automakers might have let a few felines out of the proverbial sack regarding the future of the Ford Mustang. Bill Ford seems to hint at the great potential for a 400 horsepower Ford Mustang to be produced for all to enjoy. Not sure how or when it’s going to be done, but check out the video and hear it for yourself. To paraphrase, he says we’ll soon be able to get a 400hp Ford Mustang and he hints at “another” car later this summer in the same sentence. Maybe this will come sooner than we think? Who knows for sure?! Either way, this certainly piqued our interests and made us do a double-take on what seemed to be just another dialogue on the ailing automotive industry.

Ford Mustang to join the NASCAR scene16 Jun

2010 Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang

We might best fit the description of  “moderate” NASCAR fans, as we’ve never been all that excited to see Fusions, Chargers, and Camrys circling the track for hundreds of miles these past few years.  That’s about to change.  The folks over at FOX Sports recently reported that Ford has plans to introduce the Ford Mustang into the Nationwide Racing Series next year.  The news comes now, a bit on the early side, because the new templates and designs are required to be submitted for approval on June 26th and the 2010 NASCAR competition is supposedly going to be very close to stock in the visual cues department … at least much closer than the aero-styled cars we’ve been accustomed to for almost ten years.  Dodge has stated they are going to have the Challenger designed and slated for the series as well.  General (Government) Motors?  They passed on producing a Camaro shell to race underneath and will stick with their current Impala setup, while Toyota will also follow the stale suit and stick with their Camry paneling.

Track Pack for 2010 Ford Mustang

Some of the early birds who snagged up the first productions of the 2010 Ford Mustang weren’t able to take advantage of what’s now a hot offering straight from the Ford Racing parts closet. The recently announced Track Pack for the Ford Mustang is just another way Ford is making sure to keep the Legend alive amidst all of the chaos that is the global automotive marketplace. The golden 2010 Mustang (pictured) which won the Ford Racing Invitational this weekend past was actually equipped with a healthy collection of the Ford Racing Track Pack’s functional parts as well as a functional shaker hood. In addition to this offering by Ford Racing, there’s also the FR3 Handling Pack that includes a setup providing a one inch lower ride height, stiffer springs, tightened sway bars, and re-tuned dampers for a crisp and aggressive ride. Both of these new offerings from Ford Racing are designed to fit both the GT and V6 Mustang trims. Keep reading to get all the gritty details in the official Press Release. Read on…

Ford Mustang racing body parts

The 2010 Ford Mustang has already become the benefactor of several awesome aftermarket applications and treatments.  From the ROUSH 427R to the latest Steeda Q-Series, we have seen some very impressive showing from some key aftermarket players, further keeping Mustang fans equipped for the strip and road course.  At the recent 3rd Annual Ford Racing Invitational at Milan Dragway in Michigan, Ford announced the forthcoming availability of white keyed body parts for boy racers based on the 2010 Mustang.  These rare shells are compliant with most any class, so there’s surely a niche to be filled for the racing freaks out there.  Orders for the parts will start in mid-July and will continue through the fall, with orders being delivered sometime in December.  Aside from the newly-announced exterior panels, a number of interior trim and wiring kits will also be available for racers to fit into any desired class they wish to compete in.  If you happen to know any hardcore Mustang racers out there, the chance to upgrade to some novel paneling and tech is here!
